frequently asked questions
How do you rate the condition of a book?
I try my best to accurately portray the condition of each item and any cosmetic issues in the pictures and the description. Many items, regardless of their condition, may have an inscription, owner’s name, ‘Property of’ stamp, markings from being an ex-library book, etc. All items are in used condition, categorized as ‘like new’, ‘excellent’, ‘very good’, ‘good’, and 'fair.’
‘Like new’ condition - Like new condition refers to books that are like they were when they left the publisher. Some might say they are in mint or immaculate condition.
‘Excellent’ condition - Excellent condition refers to books that have been opened or read but there are no defects or damages to the books or dust jacket.
‘Very good’ condition - Very good condition refers to books that have small signs of wear such as slightly worn cover corners, some dog-eared page corners but no tears.
‘Good’ - Good condition refers to books that have all of the pages intact but have signs of wear such as small tears, chips in cover, worn corners, etc.
‘Fair’ - Fair condition refers to books that have all of the book pages intact but have signs of wear such as bent cover, creased pages, some coloring or writing in pages, small stains or spots, etc.
Where do you get the books that are for sale in your shop?
I acquire books from thrift stores and second-hand shops, yard sales and estate sales. I love hunting for great books and love finding the gems.
